Bobby Cameron, 10U / 14U Softball
Robert (Bobby) Cameron will take on the 10U and 14U teams after coaching 10U-18U SC SWAT teams to much success over the years. Bobby has a long history with fastpitch softball in Solano County, having started the Nor-Cal Elite program, an ASA club. His teams made regular appearances at major ASA national tournaments. Bobby served as an assistant coach with Solano Community College’s championship softball program, where he helped guide the Falcons to a No. 1 state ranking and their ninth consecutive Bay Valley Conference title.
He also spent time with Sacramento City College, guiding the team to the 2004 state championship. In 2006, he was honored as part of the California Community College coaching staff of the year. Bobby spent several years making an impact at the high school level with Vintage in Napa, Fairfield, Vacaville and Armijo high schools. Bobby is retired from the City of Fairfield’s Community Services Department where he worked for 28 years.
Jason Gillis, 16U / 18U Softball
Coach Jason Gillis is a Fairfield native who grew up on the ball fields in the area. He is a 3rd generation ball player with 15 years of playing experience.
Coach Jason has coached 6u, 8u and 10u Bobby Sox, 10u Bobby Sox Allstars, and 10u-16/18u travel softball with SWAT. He enjoys sharing his passion and love for the game while teaching the fundamentals that will help shape his players. He believes in the analytical aspect of the game while promoting self confidence and a strong work ethic.
Coach Jason states that he chose to coach with SWAT because he believes it is a great organization. The volunteers, board and coaching staff take an interest in the whole player. They are focused not only on making them great ball players but smart, compassionate and involved members of society.
Bill Steh, 16U / 18U Softball
Coach Bill grew up playing baseball in the Bay Area, culminating in several seasons of semi-pro ball. Since 2010, he has coached tee-ball, Little League (including District 64 champions), summer baseball, fall baseball, Bobby Sox (including 8u champions), Bobby Sox All-Stars, and 10u-16/18u travel softball. In 2024, he became an assistant coach for the varsity softball team at Buckingham Collegiate Charter Academy.
Coach Bill prefers a small roster and increased playing time, while incorporating comprehensive statistical analyses to objectively evaluate performance. He is also a doctoral-level mental health clinician and emphasizes the importance of psychological factors that contribute to success such as self-confidence and positive team dynamics.
